Peaceful Sleeping Habits

Psalm48cSome times the kids have a hard time sleeping at night. They may have seen or heard something that bothered them, or scared them and they didn’t talk with us about it. This may lead to their inability to sleep.  This is the verse I pray with my kids and the photo with verse seemed perfect for them. 🙂

Praying for peaceful sleep for all!

Something unexpected to hear…

I was snoozing this morning so peacefully with the dog snoring near my legs. My ears hear something completely unexpected as our three-year old yells out, “CHOOSE YOUR WEAPON!”  Eyes are open ears are alert and of course I am wondering what brought that on? I still don’t know but it brought me to my next thought… 🙂

Well of course I can use this for a blog post! 🙂

What are you allowing into your life? What am I allowing into my heart through the above choices that do nothing to help me with  my walk with the Lord?

Hebrews 4:12 NLT “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.”

So friends, here is my charge for the day

CHOOSE YOUR WEAPON!  Do you choose weapons of the world? TV, media, or friends and families point of view? Or do you choose the Word of God which is sharper than any 2 edged sword to fight your spiritual battles?

Bless you today as you choose! Choose wisely! 🙂

If you are scared…

Last night we had a good storm. By good, I mean it rained and there was lightning and thunder. I LOVE STORMS!!! We have told the kids when they ask, “If I am scared can I come to your room?” that they are welcome to come crawl into bed with us.

Last night someone crawled between Sammy and I, laid their head on my pillow while I was sleeping. I reached out to comfort them but when I did, I found out it was Angel, our 60 pound Springer Spaniel!  She had gotten so scared that she climbed in between Sammy and I could not move her! She was so heavy in my sleep darkened state, that I just left her there with her loud snore reverberating in our bedroom!

While I expected it to be one of the kids, Angel was shaking and scared so I left her there. In the morning, I was in a tremendous amount of neck and back pain because that perfect sleep number was off with her extra weight.

How often do you or I leave some particular sin in our life because it is just easier to leave it there rather than  fight the sin to get it out?  It is sometimes easier to leave it be!  Is it right when the pain of the choice comes with the willingness to leave it?

NO! NO! NO!

If you are scared, pray it out.  Get “the dog off the sleep number bed” and a make your life easier. We need to ask God to take the sin out of our lives and live a life pleasing to the Lord walking with Him free from the sin that causes tremendous pain. If you are scared, run to the One who can rescue you. Climb up and let Him love on you. 🙂

A magnificent blissful place

In that position between slumbering and awake is a magnificent blissful place.

Not awake and not asleep but hanging in a mental hammock, rocking back and forth.

A new day dawns and I hear voices and sounds in the remoteness.

The day is calling and the nighttime shadows flee. Quiet bliss is fading swiftly.

Duty beckons. Fingers placed in the socket of my eye. “Are you awake?”

Eyes open. Eyes close. Just 5 more minutes I plead without vocalization.

“I’m just hungry my tummy says.” The dog pounces on to the heap of me.

Bark! Bark! Bark! Tranquility vanquished.

Sleep; you have run away! I will meet you once more at the end of my day.
